On 21st December 2012 the weather forecasters said it was going to rain and rain hard for most of the day and night. On 22rd Dec when I woke up I was not expecting to see what i did.
What a day, such a huge lose for the shops and businesses involved, it brought back memories of when I was serving in the fire service and we attended the flooding of 2004 in Braunton.
After seeing several posts on facebook regarding the flooding, I headed out into the village armed with my camera and some wellies. Here’s my images from the day, taken both on my DSLR, my GX-1 and my iphone. I tweeted the first image of the canoeist and was almost instantly inundated with calls for the images from various people and several news agencies.
I entrusted my images with Apex news in Exeter, who i have used on previous occasions. Glad i did as my images made it into 7 national newspapers over 2 days including 2 double page spreads and a front cover. Not bad.
I know my news is good it is upsetting that it came off the back of a terrible event. I am fully behind the village and will support it where and when i can. I just hope the businesses can recover from this and village life returns to normal soon.
